What each lesson covers
Open Settings and Skills, choose Create skill or New in editor, or upload a .skill, .md, or .zip package.
Open Settings from the bottom-left avatar, choose Skills, then Create skill (or New in editor). Name it Friday safety summary and give it a one-line purpose: turn the week's site incident notes into the Friday safety report. If a colleague sent you a .skill file instead, choose upload.
Choose a repeatable workflow with a recognizable input and output.
Before writing the skill, type in the composer: I want to make one process into a skill. Candidates: the weekly social post batch, a one-off rebrand brief, and the monthly newsletter built from our product changelog. Which has the most stable trigger, input and output, and which should stay a normal conversation?
Describe the sequence, decisions, standards, and source material.
In the skill editor, write the method: Goal: turn a tenant maintenance request into a work order. Inputs: the request email and contractors.xlsx. Steps: classify urgency as 24 hours, 7 days or routine; pick the trade; draft the work order as a document. Rule: gas, water leaks or electrical are always 24 hours.
Define what the skill must verify before it finishes.
Add a Checks section to the skill: Before finishing: every claimed amount must match a receipt line; any claim over $500 with no receipt goes under Cannot approve; if expense-policy.pdf is not attached, stop and ask for it rather than guessing the limits.
Activate the Skill, select it from the composer plus menu, confirm its skill chip, and run varied examples.
Activate the skill in Settings, Skills. In the composer click +, open the Skills tab, choose Meeting minutes to actions and check its skill chip. Run it three times: on a full transcript, on a two-line note, and on notes where nothing was decided.
